Don’t Let Incontinence Affect Your Life

Incontinence is a very common problem, affecting over 4 million Australians. It is a distressing condition that can majorly impact ones quality of life. Approximately with 1 in 3 women and 1 in 10 men will experience leakage at some point in their lives.

However, don’t despair! Urinary incontinence is very treatable, in most cases without surgery.

Do you have any of the following incontinence symptoms?

  • When you laugh, sneeze, cough or exercise, do you sometimes leak a small amount of urine?
  • Are you ever “caught short” by a sudden, strong urge to pass urine?
  • Do you arrange your daily routine around where the nearest toilets will be?
  • Do you wake twice or more during the night to go to the toilet?
  • Do you experience bowel problems such as soiling, urgency, poor wind control or difficulty emptying?
  • Have you given up enjoyable activities like walking, aerobics or dancing, all because of the fear of bladder leakage or loss of bowel control?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then your symptoms are treatable! It is important to note that addressing these symptoms early means that you can get back to what you love to do sooner, plus it will stop these women’s incontinence symptoms from getting worse.

Contact Proactive Physiotherapy today and organise your confidential appointment with one of our physiotherapists to get you back to doing the things you love.

Proactive Physiotherapy is open for face-to-face visits and group exercise classes.

Your safety is our top priority. We have developed a protocol to ensure that all government recommendations including physical distancing and cleaning are adhered to. We have COVID-safe cleaning procedures in place, we are vetting everyone who comes into the clinic for any symptoms of illness, and we are maintaining social distancing where it is appropriate and possible.

To help minimise any risks, please do not come into the clinic unless you are a patient, parent of a minor who is a patient, or translator or carer for a patient attending the clinic. If you do not wish to come into the clinic, but still require some assistance, please call 40840602 to organise a telehealth appointment.

We look forward to assisting our clients, old and new, in these unusual times and will temper our approach to community safety as the COVID situation fluctuates.

Thank you for your understanding.

Julie Faulks and the entire Proactive Physio team.
