Would you like to live a life free of pain and medication?
Proactive Physiotherapy’s specialty Headache and Migraine Clinic is here to help!
We specialise in treating long standing headache sufferers who have tried everything and failed to eliminate their headaches and migraines.
At Proactive Physiotherapy, we use the Watson Headache Approach to treat headaches and migraines because it is recognised internationally for its accuracy in diagnosis of the cause of headaches. It is also the only manual therapy technique shown to significantly desensitise the brain stem and affect the true cause of your headache condition.
Proactive Physio founder and owner, Julie Faulks, was one the first physiotherapists in Australia to complete all 3 levels of accreditation to become a Watson Head-ache® Certified Practitioner for headache treatments and our dedicated team of highly qualified physiotherapists have all undertaken additional study to become certified Watson Headache® Institute practitioners.
With the Watson Headache Approach® we can take the guesswork out of the cause of your headaches or migraines and we can reduce, if not cease, your headache within five treatment sessions.
If your headache is coming from your neck then Proactive Physiotherapy can help.
Until recently, disorders of the upper neck have been significantly unrecognised as the cause of your headache, however recent research has changed this perception.
Indications that your headache or migraine might stem from your neck include:
- Headache on one side or on on the same side every episode
- Headache swaps sides in the same headache episode
- Headache spreads, extending from one side into the other during your headache episode
- Headache starts or is accompanied by neck or shoulder pain, soreness or tenderness – even if you don’t have neck symptoms, this does not necessarily exclude your neck as the source of headache
- Headache is triggered or aggravated by sustained neck posture, such as driving, using computers or devices or long periods looking down
- If you have had trauma of some kind (a fall, blow to the head, an accident) and there is no medical evidence of a remaining head injury
- Experiencing gradual increase of your headache symptoms
If you have had no indication of neck involvement a skilled examination may still be required to rule out your neck as the source of your headache or migraine.
Our Proactive Physiotherapy Cairns Headache and Migraine Clinic specialises in assessing the root cause of your headache or migraine and providing strategies for short and long term relief from headaches, migraines and their related symptoms.
There are many types of headaches and migraines that we can treat, including tension headaches, migraines, headaches with aura, vestibular migraines, menstrual migraines, cluster headaches and chronic headaches. And although our treatment is hands on, it does not involve any manipulation (cracking) of your neck.
By using the Watson Headache Approach® we can provide relief for even the longest history of headache and migraine sufferers, using our skilful assessment and innovative and proven treatment to make a difference to your life and well being.
