Kate moved from Cairns to study in Townsville and graduated from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2017.

She commenced her career on the Gold Coast, where she worked for a community based allied health organisation for two years. Kate returned home to Cairns in January 2020 to be closer to her family and settle down.

Kate is expanding her interest in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, enjoying the mentoring in manual therapy she receives weekly from our Practice Principal, Julie Faulks. As an adjunct to this, Kate educates her patients in self-management techniques, assisting patients to have the best possible quality of life through functional exercise and a tailored approach to their care.

Kate had a particular interest in improving the everyday life of her elderly female clients through education and advice in the areas of core strength and pelvic floor stability. She plans to complete postgraduate university education in Pelvic Health physiotherapy to further improve her ability to assist all patients in this field.

Kate has commenced training in headache and migraine treatment through the Watson Headache Approach, looking to further her training when interstate travel is feasible again. Kate will also be provided opportunities through the practice to expand her knowledge in functional clinical exercise and it’s benefits to a range of patient presentations.

Kate aims to provide a caring and patient centred approach to her patients. Kate has a particular interest in Women’s Health however is ready to provide evidence supported treatments to a range of musculoskeletal presentations with a patient focused approach.

Proactive Physiotherapy is open for face-to-face visits and group exercise classes.

Your safety is our top priority. We have developed a protocol to ensure that all government recommendations including physical distancing and cleaning are adhered to. We have COVID-safe cleaning procedures in place, we are vetting everyone who comes into the clinic for any symptoms of illness, and we are maintaining social distancing where it is appropriate and possible.

To help minimise any risks, please do not come into the clinic unless you are a patient, parent of a minor who is a patient, or translator or carer for a patient attending the clinic. If you do not wish to come into the clinic, but still require some assistance, please call 40840602 to organise a telehealth appointment.

We look forward to assisting our clients, old and new, in these unusual times and will temper our approach to community safety as the COVID situation fluctuates.

Thank you for your understanding.

Julie Faulks and the entire Proactive Physio team.
